We've Lost a Texas Film Legend

I learned early this morning that Frank Q. Dobbs (above, in costume on the set of GAMBLER V in Galveston) passed away last night, while undergoing cancer treatment in Houston.

I first met Frank in Houston, where we were scouting locations for GAMBLER V. As many of you know, Frank generally insisted on driving himself everywhere. So we started out for Galveston, with him behind the wheel, and not 10 minutes had gone by, and we were promptly pulled over by the DPS for speeding! Frank shrugged it off, told me "I usually get a speeding ticket on every shoot. At least now I've got that taken care of!", and off we went to Galveston.

Frank will be missed, and was truly one of the people that inspired and made friends with everyone he knew.

Frank wrote and produced more Texas projects than anyone I can think of including "Rio Diablo", "Gambler V", "Streets of Laredo", and "Rough Riders".

Thanks for always taking my call, Frank, no matter what part of the world you were in.

El Escape De Los Santos picked up for Release

Venevision International Acquires
El Escape De Los Santos for Nationwide Release

San Antonio, Tx - - After the World Premiere at the Hollywood DV Festival, Digital Work Studios is proud to announce that the critically acclaimed independent film EL ESCAPE DE LOS SANTOS (The Escape of De Los Santos) has signed with the most important latin cinema distribution company in the United States, Venevision International.

Under the deal, Venevision International will distribute and promote the film, on Pay-per-View, Video on Demand and ultimately on DVD throughout all major retailers, video rental outlets and living rooms accross the United States.

Venevision International is an entertainment company part of the Cisneros Group, with more than 30 years experience, Venevision International distributes television programs throughout the world and is one of the largest producers of independent television programs in Spanish.

The company also distributes films in Spanish for theater, pay-per-view, home video, paid and open television in the United States.

EL ESCAPE DE LOS SANTOS will be released on Pay Per View in April, and subsequently a Summer release on DVD nationwide.

At the time of the DVD release in the Summer, the film will be heavily promoted nationally on Univision (which is also a part of the Cisneros Group).

The Escape of De Los Santos (El Escape De Los Santos) revolves around Andres De Los Santos, a young man who by mistake gets caught with hunting rifles while crossing into Mexico and is sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. The rifles were registered in the United States and more importantly in Mexico.

Andres discovers that the Mexican judicial system is extremely flawed. There are no juries, no testimony and your are guilty until proven innocent.

Andres has one choice. Escape.

San Antonio critic Bob Polunsky proclaims "*Their acting and attitude give you reason enough to root for them, and that, in itself, makes the movie worth seeing*."
