New advocacy organization forming for Film in Texas

Visual Production Industry Professionals and Educators:

You're invited to participate in a town-hall style meeting with the new director of the Texas Film Commission, Bob Hudgins, and Drew Mayer-Oakes, director of the San Antonio Film Commission, to discuss an important new development in our industry within the state of Texas.

TMPA Organizational Town Hall Meeting
Monday, May 15th
7:00 PM
San Antonio Central Public Library
1st Floor Auditorium
600 Soledad
San Antonio, Texas 78205

A new statewide advocacy organization, which will be known as the Texas Motion Picture Alliance (TMPA - a 501c6 non-profit), is now forming in our state. The Texas Association of Film Commissions (of which the San Antonio Film Commission is a founding member) is taking the lead in reaching out on a statewide level to contact film, television and commercial production professionals. You are encouraged to attend this general orientation as to the purpose and goals of the TMPA, Monday, May 15th, at 7:00 PM at the San Antonio Central Library.

This meeting will allow anyone who wants to participate, insight and access to what the organization is, and what it proposes to do. Mr. Hudgins will act as moderator to explain why there is a need, and what type of activities the TMPA will participate in.

The TMPA is an organization of organizations specifically created to address statewide issues facing our industry, including state production incentives for film, television and commercial projects. We will be looking to leaders in our own production community to step up to the plate, and become active participants in this organization. Meetings are being held throughout the month of May in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, El Paso, Austin, etc., and ALL regions of the state will be represented.

I urge you to join me Monday evening. This is a very critical time for our industry - a time that demands action to preserve the industry our state has built up over the last 30 years. This is also an opportunity to make a showing of the strength and depth of our production community to the new leader of the Texas Film Commission, Bob Hudgins.

Please RSVP to drew@filmsanantonio.com.

As always, thanks for your support of film in San Antonio.
